History Teacher (part-time)

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented, inspiring and positive teacher to join a happy and successful team. The school was inspected in 2013 by ISI and achieved an excellent rating in all key areas.  More recently, it met with all regulations in the Compliance Inspection in 2017.  The school has a strong pastoral ethos and is renowned for its caring and nurturing environment.

Thorngrove School is a co-educational independent preparatory school in Highclere, near Newbury in Berkshire, for 2 1/2 -13 year olds. It accommodates approximately 220 pupils.

Thorngrove School was founded in 1988 by Nick and Connie Broughton. They wanted to create an establishment that provided for all children, whatever their abilities. Recent developments have included a 3 lane cricket net facility and personal devices for all children in Year 3 up. The school will be celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2023.

Vision and values

Thorngrove School aims to deliver a broad and balanced curriculum, developing pupils' academic education as well as their interest in extra-curricular pursuits. Teachers strive to provide a nurturing environment for every child and to promote teamwork and friendship between year groups. The pre-preparatory school maximises the use of all school facilities, including the woods and fields.

While Thorngrove School excels at teaching core subjects, it also provides outstanding extra-curricular activities. Pupils have access to specialist art and pottery sessions, music lessons and drama classes led by a fully qualified LAMDA teacher. Plenty of sports are on offer.
