Ifield Community College is looking to appoint a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to work collaboratively with teachers as part of a professional team to organise and support teaching and learning activities for students.   The primary focus is to work with individuals and groups delivering specified work under the direction and supervisions of a qualified teacher.  This post will be focusing on literacy.

The successful candidate will have experience of forming and maintaining appropriate professional relationships and boundaries with children and young people, organising classroom activities e.g. preparing and setting out resources and implementing strategies for T&L and of providing a responsive and supportive service with a willingness to constantly seek ways of improving the service.

You should also hold a HLTA qualification or an equivalent Level 4 NVQ, have a good standard of literacy, numeracy and ICT skills and also have experience of planning and developing learning activities that respond to the needs of individual students and meet HLTA standards or equivalent qualification or have experience (essential).  Also, experience of using bespoke computerised student data recording software is desirable, but not essential as full training will be given.

We are a ‘Good’ school and we have excellent facilities in a state of the art building, which is situated in a pleasant location only 30 minutes to both Croydon & Brighton, by rail or car.  The school is expanding to take on additional students due to its popularity.

Ifield Community College is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form in West Sussex serving students from the ages of 11-18. The secondary school, situated in Crawley has approximately 1,020 students on role.

Ifield Community College was established in 1966, with a new school building opening in the centre of campus in 2005. The secondary school has a broad range of sporting faciltiies, including a fitness suite, tennis courts and a large playing field.
