ABC Teachers are seeking a qualified 1:1 higher level teaching assistant to work in a SEN/PRU setting in Derby. This is a full time contracted role starting in January and initially lasting until the summer break although may be extended and taken onto a permanent contract in the new academic year.

This is a 1:1 teaching assistant role which would take place within a vibrant PRU school that specialises in EBD and SEMH. (Emotional behavioural, social and mental health difficulties) Working at this school would be the start of a great carer within SEN with a fantastic energetic team and small classes of 5 students. The school are specifically looking for a HLTA who will be able to step up and take control of the class if the teacher needs to work 1:1 with a student or if they need to step out of the class for any reason.

You must have experience working with special needs and be able to deliver 1:1 personalised support for the child and whole groups when needed. The school has 2 sites within a 5 minute drive therefore they are looking for a applicant that would be able to commute between the sites to utilise the facilities available, this could either be a 10 minute walk or a short drive. This role is a fantastic opportunity to gain some 1:1 SEN experience on a long term basis at a Ofsted rated ‘outstanding’ school with a good support group of permanent staff. 

The successful applicant must be serious about making tangible difference to the most vulnerable lives. The school is willing to offer expert training in a fun and flexible working environment. 

In order to be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following criteria:

· Be eligible to work in the UK (must have a valid visa if applicable)

· Must hold relevant teaching assistant qualifications (NVQ HLTA)

· Have previous experience within an SEN setting

· Have excellent communication skills

· Have a creative approach to learning

· Possess valid references, DBS/police checks
