The vacancy is for the position of a HLTA to deliver Sport across KS2- KS4 in a Special School working with young people with social, mental, emotional and behavioural difficulties. It is to start in September and will be for the full academic year. 

The role

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a difference to pupils lives and their experience of education, especially those who have become disengaged from education. You will be required to support in classes from Y3 – Y11, using Sport to assist pupils in overcoming barriers to learning and dealing with behavioural issues.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for working within an environment where young people can sometimes exhibit some challenging behaviour and have a flexible approach to working to ensure we offer a pupil centred learning experience to allow each individual to reach their full potential. 

The school provides bespoke, child-centred, high quality education programmes, which aim to ensure that all the students individual educational needs are met in a safe environment.

Requirements

To be considered for the HLTA position, you will be expected to:

• Be comfortable delivering Sports/Physical Education 

• Have the patience required to work with small groups of students who may demonstrate challenging behaviour.

• To facilitate a safe and positive learning environment and de-escalate any threatening or aggressive behaviour.

• To mentor and engage with the students, delivering specifically designed educational packages.
