Job overview

You know how to improve the lives of hundreds of children, why not do the same for thousands?

This is an exciting time to work for Ofsted. Our new education inspection framework (EIF) has now taken effect, with curriculum and the quality of education at its heart. And through this framework, we are determined to be a force for improvement.

If you join us as one of Her Majesty’s Inspectors (HMI), you will play a rewarding role in making that vision a reality. You will receive excellent training, so that your existing professional expertise is used to maximum impact through inspection. Through our new framework, you will shine a light on good practice and challenge where schools need to improve. You may also have the opportunity to use your subject expertise through research and specialist work.

We are looking for professionals from across primary (including early years) and secondary schools. We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals with experience of special educational needs in the North East, Yorkshire and Humber area.

Leadership experience will be essential; you might be a headteacher, deputy head or head of a secondary school department, and you will have a proven track record of improvement. Your knowledge of good practice will be complemented by the ability to translate analysis into clear reports and practical steps for improvement. An inspirational and credible communicator, you will be confident making judgements and passionate about improving outcomes.
