Job overview

Providing quality, inspiring innovation and delivering value is what we set out to achieve at Priory Healthcare. Enabling our patients with mental health difficulties to receive a truly integrated and holistic approach to their treatment, regardless of complexity or severity, thanks to the knowledge and expertise of our multidisciplinary clinical teams.

We are an independent co-educational day school for young people aged 11 to 18 with mental health problems. Our 23 pupils are all inpatients of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) unit at The Priory Hospital Woodbourne, where the school is based. We have a team of specialist teachers who deliver education to all young people at the Hospital.

We are looking for a talented, creative educational professional who is determined to make a difference. You will teach across the curriculum at our Hospital School in Birmingham, dependent on your subject specialism. Ability to lead the planning and delivery of English or Mathematics would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will be able to establish amazing learning relationships with our young people, focused on building their determination, courage and skills to re-engage with school upon discharge. You will be adept both at teaching those who have become disengaged with learning, those with Special Educational Needs and those who will achieve at the very highest level. You will need first class communication and organisational skills. A good understanding of the use of data to inform planning is also essential, and the ability to develop post-16 education would be an advantage.

You will teach whole classes, small groups and individuals, dependent on the changing needs of our cohort. We liaise with mainstream schools and colleges and each young person has an individualised curriculum plan, with progress being closely monitored. We aim to lead outstanding learning experiences and drive continuous improvement in everything we do.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates from mainstream or specialist education, looking for their next step.

In return, you will enjoy a competitive salary, attractive benefits, ongoing professional development and the kind of career prospects you would expect from a leader in the provision of specialist education.

Visits to the school are warmly welcome. Please contact Jilly McCarrick (Deputy Head Teacher) on 0121 434 4343 if you would like to arrange an appointment. For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Matt Phillips (Head Teacher) on 07802 876 868.

Deadline for applications is Monday 9th May 2016.
Interviews will be week commencing 16th May 2016.
