Job overview

Astrum Education operates two schools in central London: Kensington Park School, a new independent school for boys and girls aged 11 to 18; and Chelsea Independent College, for pupils aged 14 to 19.

We are searching for two resilient, motivated Houseparenst to join Princess Beatrice House in April 2019. This is an exciting time to be joining our team in one of the most multi-cultural and diverse Boarding houses in the UK, following a successful OFSTED inspection of our premises.

PBH caters for just under 100 students from thirty different countries. Our students attend two educational institutions across three sites: however, the ethos is the same. We aim to provide a ‘home from home’ environment through our dedicated team of teaching and non-teaching house parents who provide world class academic and pastoral care around the clock. Our night duty staff ensure that there is always an approachable person to deal with any of our students’ issues or worries. Our location in West London is unrivalled: our first class facilities are second to none and we help our students to take advantage of our prime location through trips and promoting independence in one of Europe’s largest and most cosmopolitan cities.

The job requires you to work as part of a team, in a shift pattern. You will be responsible for every aspect of the pupils’ welfare and pastoral care, as well as assisting the Head of Boarding in maintaining the high standards that are currently in place, and continuing to build strong links with the schools that we work with. You will work with a shift leader, and an academic member of staff whilst on duty. A sense of humour, humility and positivity are the qualities needed in order to excel in this role. This is a non-teaching role.

In return, we will offer you:

• A generous package including accommodation in Zone one of London

• Meals provided

• The opportunity to work in one of the UK’s most dynamic boarding environments

• Comprehensive training opportunities, including BSA accredited courses

• Annual leave to be used year round.

This is a full time, permanent position with start date in April 2019.

Full details of the post are outlined in the accompanying job description. Applicants are requested to complete the application form in full and return it by email with a cover letter to recruitment@astrumeducation.com before the closing date.

Closing date for applications: 12 pm Friday 22 February 2018

Astrum Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening including checks with past employers and DBS.
