Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a caring, dynamic and inspirational Housemaster/Housemistress to take responsibility for the pastoral, academic and co-curricular life of the pupils in their care and lead this successful and popular girls’ boarding house (ages 13-18). All teaching subjects will be considered for this post, which has a reduced timetable.

As an experienced teacher with a proven track record of providing first rate pastoral care, the successful candidate will be a natural leader and have an excellent understanding of what it takes to deliver a boarding experience in which pupils thrive. Experience of boarding is therefore essential and BSA boarding qualifications will be an advantage, as will be an ability to foster a nurturing, supportive environment and to build healthy relationships.

Bryanston offers an exceptional working environment, which includes a competitive remuneration package, additional responsibility payment, state-of-the-art facilities, wide-ranging prospects for professional and personal development and the benefits of joining a very experienced team. All staff contribute to the pastoral and boarding school life, and have the opportunity to share their passion for sports or pioneering and co-curricular activities in these beautiful rural surroundings.

About Bryanston School

Bryanston is an independent boarding and day school for boys and girls aged 3 to 18, set in a beautiful 400-acre site near Blandford Forum in Dorset. It includes Bryanston Prep School, a co-educational day and boarding prep school in the neighbouring village of Durweston.

Founded in 1928, the school aims above all to develop the all-round talents of individual pupils. A broad, flexible academic and extra-curricular programme is offered and each pupil benefits from considerable one-to-one help and guidance from a personal tutor, subject teachers and housemaster/housemistress. Bryanston aims to combine the best of the new and the old, as befits the school motto et nova et vetera.
