Job overview

Leigh Academies Trust has a fantastic opportunity to appoint a knowledgeable and highly competent HR People Partner who will join our HR Shared Services Department based in Rochester, Kent.  Our People Team shares a great deal of experience, knowledge and longevity of working within the Trust and wider education sector so we can offer our successful candidate the opportunity to join a collaborative team with great scope to develop your current skill set for the benefit of our academies.

The purpose of the HR People Partner role is to contribute to the success of each academy to which they are assigned. You will have a vision for how each academy can succeed in the future through its people, playing an active part in the establishment of the overall strategy to deliver on this vision on a day to day basis alongside the academy’s Senior Leadership Teams.

Prior experience working within an education environment is strongly desirable, and having successfully completed CIPD studies is essential for this role.  As a Trust, we feel it is important to hire with the right attitude which is why will be looking for someone that is enthusiastic, focused, reliable and resilient to the day to day pressures that a busy and varied HR function brings.  For more information, please consult the Job Description by clicking here.   The remuneration offered is £39,687 - £43,682 per annum, plus 25 days annual leave per annum which increases with length of service.

Please note that although our HR Department fundamentally supports our academies during term time, we work all year round so please only apply for the role if you can accommodate a typical business working pattern i.e full-time, 52 weeks per year.  A full driving license and access to your own vehicle is essential for the role as travel between sites will be required (for which expenses can be claimed in line with LAT’s expenses policy).

Being part of Leigh Academies Trust:  As of 1st January 2019, our Trust is comprised of 23 geographically organised academies (11 secondaries, 11 primaries and 1 special) educating over 15,000 students, and employing over 2,500 talented staff.  We also have three further academies in development phase, due to open in September 2020.  The Trust is establishing four ‘clusters’ of academies: North West Kent; Central Kent; South East London; Medway. In addition, the Trust is responsible for one of the region’s biggest initial teaching training providers and a large teaching school.

As part of Leigh Academies Trust, you will have ample opportunity to collaborate with your peers both within the academy and across the whole Trust.  This is an important part of our vision as we know through experience that we perform better when we work together.  You are supported to undertake regular self-development to continue your professional development and hopefully progress further within the organisation.

About Leigh Academies Trust

Leigh Academies Trust is one of the country’s largest and most-established multi-academy trusts operating across Kent, Medway and South East London. It contains primary, secondary and special academies and is highly inclusive and successful. Our mission is to deliver “education for a better world” by ensuring that young people in our academies have an excellent start in life regardless of their background or ability.

We are a non-profit making charitable company, based in Strood, Medway. The Trust exists to support and assist schools to build upon their existing strengths and to help them achieve rapid educational transformation. It has significant experience in running schools, and today includes both sponsored academies and schools which have chosen to convert to academy status.

The Trust was formed in 2008 with the linking of the Leigh Technology Academy and Longfield Academy under one governing body. Today, we encompass more than 20,000 students between the ages of 2 months and 19 in over 30 primary, secondary and special academies including one all-through academy and one grammar school.

In addition to providing high-quality educational opportunities for all of our children, aged from 2 months to 19 years, and their families, we are proud to provide many opportunities for lifelong learning.  These are delivered through the organisations under our umbrella: Thames Gateway Teaching School Hub, LAT Apprenticeships and Kent and Medway Training (KMT), which delivers routes into teaching. Our future plans are found in our Vision 2030 document available on our website.
