Job overview

Upton House is seeking an experienced Human Resources professional who has a flair for regulatory matters to work as part of our busy school office team.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication and organisational skills and a formal qualification in Human Resource management. In the independent education sector, HR and regulatory compliance sit naturally together but there is no requirement that you have prior experience in compliance, although this would clearly be an advantage.

The successful candidate will work 25 hours per week distributed evenly across the week and be responsible for advertising vacancies, managing applications, arranging interviews, carrying out the relevant pre-employment checks, maintaining the single central register of staff and onboarding successful candidates. The compliance role includes managing policy review, monitoring regulatory bodies to ensure the Head and the Bursar are fully briefed on changes, and leading on data protection. The role does include associated secretarial and administrative duties including filing, photocopying and dealing with recruitment agencies.

Strong digital skills, specifically with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook are essential for this role.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly and welcoming community in one of the leading independent schools in the area.

Upton House is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. Applicants for the post must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including reference checks with previous employers and an enhanced criminal record check with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
