This is an exciting opportunity to join the newly created Westcountry Schools Trust, which currently employs approximately 1100 staff. We are a dynamic organisation with our students and staff at our heart. Built on an extensive track record of excellence, the Trust combines a range of secondary colleges, primary schools and businesses located across Devon and Cornwall. We are also a stone’s throw from some of the best beaches and countryside in the country. 

If you have a proven track record of professional HR delivery, ideally in the education sector, then here is the chance to make a significant contribution to supporting the targets and objectives of the Trust through the provision of proactive, professional and customer focused HR. The role also contributes to wider HR & OD initiatives, including policy development and delivery of key projects. Your main responsibilities will include providing advice and support on all aspects and at every stage of employee relations matters. You will also be responsible for developing HR policies and procedures in line with changes to legislation and best practice, delivering training sessions for managers on areas such as performance management, managing sickness absence and carrying out HR induction with new staff. You will also have the opportunity to lead on, and support a variety of initiatives and work streams.  

You will ideally be CIPD qualified to level 7 and experienced in providing generalist HR advice to managers at all levels of the organisation on core HR matters. Formulating and updating HR policies and procedures as part of Westcountry Schools Trust transition will be part of your remit. You will be expected to be confident in offering advice and guidance to managers and supporting on a complex range of case work. You will also be a credible individual with excellent communication and influencing skills and the ability to build effective relationships.
