Job overview

Humanities Teacher

The Old Vicarage School, is a family run, co-ed preparatory school for children aged 2 ½ to 13 years. Our school motto is "ingenium ac benevolentia" meaning “character and kindness.” Our shared aim is that OVS children will develop strength of character, positivity in outlook and have kindness at their core. Established in 1933, the school is owned and successfully run by the Adshead family, enjoying an excellent reputation. We have a proven track record in preparing and sending children on to some of the best schools locally and nationally. Our school is full with waiting list places. Our parents are supportive of our aims.

We are hoping to recruit a part time teacher of Humanities to join our dedicated staff team. We can boast a warm, family atmosphere in beautiful surroundings, with lovely children, eager to learn, supported by first class teachers, who achieved a rating of "excellent" in all areas, following our ISI inspection report in 2015. There is a positive atmosphere in the staffroom, where colleagues, work hard, enjoy their work and support each other. This post may suit an experienced and dedicated Humanities teacher looking for a part time position working with pupils in Years 5 to 8 in small classes. There could be scope to increase the role for the right candidate.

NB: A full time or increased role could be possible for candidates offering additional subjects.

We seek a teacher who fully grasps the concept of "in loco parentis" to join our OVS family. Having a love of teaching, commitment to reaching the highest standards, giving your best and inspiring children to achieve their potential will be essential. Experience in teaching Years 7 & 8 Humanities and potentially GCSE is desirable. Applicants from Primary graduates considered.
