Job overview

We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Humanities teacher, i.e. History, Geography and RE to KS3 and at least one of these to GCSE, at our specialist school for children with dyslexia and related educational needs. Preferably this is for a summer term 2022 start.

The age range over the whole school is from year 3 to 11, although you would be teaching in the senior school department. Our pupils take a range of qualifications including GCSEs and BTECs.  All need to be taught in a creative and multisensory way. The rewards are huge as we see excellent progress and achievement in pupils who have struggled to learn in mainstream settings. Class sizes are very small, usually  5 – 7, and behaviour is very good. You will need to be a warm, patient and innovative teacher, with a desire to understand the often complex needs of our pupils.

Ability to teach Citizenship to GCSE would be an advantage.

Please apply via the TES site by Friday 4th February 2022.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people with Special Needs and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore will be subject to a DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Suitable for NQTs.
