IB/IGCSE Geography Teacher

LIS is looking for a dynamic IGCSE/IB Geography teacher for the upcoming school year.  Candidate must have experience in teaching Geography and experience in IB, A-Level or AP experience a must.  Teacher must be able to work in a team environment and mange multiple preps per day as this position teaches, middle, IGCSE and IB Geography.   Medical and Background checks are required by local law. The deadline for applications is February 28, 2018  Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and the Search Committee reserves the right to close the application process early if a candidate is selected before the deadline.

Accommodation:

LIS provides a monthly housing stipend for single employees of $500 a month or an $800 housing stipend for teaching couples. The housing stipend is paid for four years.

Flights:

Flights in at the beginning of the contract for employee and dependents and flights out at the end of contract. Initial contract is for 2 years with annual contracts after the initial contract (as per local law).

Moving Allowance:

$1,000 shipping in and $1,500 at the end of contract

General Number of contract days:

185 teacher work days and 177 student contact days

Starting Salary Range :

$33,000 to $42,000. There is no local income tax in The Bahamas so this salary is tax-free

Taxes:

None. Taxes locally come in the form of duty paid on items brought into the country and a VAT (sales) tax on goods and services. National Insurance contributions are mandatory for all employees which comes to approximately $115 a month.
