Job overview

Are you the right person to join us in our growing IB World School Secondary section? Can you help us develop exciting and innovative MYP courses for our students?

This role is advertised as a Maternity cover. There may be opportunities that this role will become a permanent contract. This may also offer opportunities to teach within the IBDP programme as well.

Budapest British International School (BBIS) seeks an exceptional, innovative educator to join our community. BBIS provides a 'students first' education, where every child is recognised, valued and included. We are guided by the values of the IB and the mission of our founder: academic excellence by achieving more than you think you can.

BBIS' creative, inspiring educators work in a collaborative, student-centred learning environment. You'll join a highly supportive team of professional educators in a dynamic environment.

Successful candidates should have knowledge and experience of teaching the IBMYP. They must hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher with a recognised teaching qualification and have completed recent IB training. They must demonstrate compatibility with the IB philosophy, coupled with the flexibility and commitment needed to meet the demands of an innovative and expanding school.

Any of the following would give a candidate a distinct advantage:

• Ability and willingness to teach MYP Visual Arts and Design

• Recent IB-recognised professional development for MYP or DP

• Experience teaching both the MYP and DP programmes

• IB Examiner for MYP or DP

• Experience teaching MYP for MYP ePortfolio

BBIS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and will check the suitability of staff to work with children. Applicants must be willing to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check and overseas police checks (where necessary).

Formed four years ago, BBIS is located in Buda, the leafy side of Budapest. Our current roll of 320 students is expanding to a maximum of 480, representing many nationalities.

Tell us how you think you could add value to our school and what responsibilities you'd like to lead. Please use the TES application form to submit your details, along with your letter of application and your CV.

Please contact the school office for any specific information you might require. You are most welcome to speak to the Co-Heads of the Secondary School for an informal conversation before making an application - david.wheatley@bbis.hu or Penny.clements@bbis.hu

The shortlisted candidates will be invited to a first-round video interview by Sparkhire, followed by a second-round video interview. BBIS reserves the right to arrange Spark hire/video interviews for suitable candidates before the closing date.

The closing date for applications is February 3rd 2023

About Budapest British International School

At Budapest British International School, we believe that a successful education is all about inspired, imaginative teaching, centred on the learner as an individual. We nurture students not only to achieve academic success but also to become true global citizens.

BBIS is an International Baccalaureate World School. We work with children from the Early Years who enjoy the Primary Years Learning Activites within our Candidacy Programme. This is the basis of their learning and then as the children become young adults, we work within the IB Middle Years Programme and IB Diploma in our Secondary School. Our school community is made up of over 420 students from over 30 nations. We pride ourselves on a small family with big ambitions!

BBIS is the only school in Budapest to offer a Secondary continuum of IB-accredited programmes: the IB MYP and DP.

Our programmes feature an inquiry approach that aligns student interests with what they learn, thereby enriching their natural curiosity and promoting a love of learning. Our team of internationally-experienced, skilled and passionate teachers model the attributes of the IB Learner Profile and encourage students to respect themselves, others and the world around them.

A strong sense of common purpose pervades our learning community. We believe that trust and strong parental participation are an integral part of quality education and we see parents as our partners in their children’s learning journey.

Thank you for your interest in BBIS. We look forward to welcoming you.
