Job overview

This is an excellent opportunity to join a friendly, dynamic school where staff are highly valued. Due to intended curriculum expansion in September, we require an enthusiastic and ambitious teacher to join our Design and Technology department to support in the curriculum development of both ICT and Graphic Products.

The successful candidate needs to be able to offer ICT and Graphics both at KS3 and KS4. The successful candidate will be part of the Design Technology department, supported by an experienced line manager. The successful candidate will be a confident and passionate teacher of Design and Technology and ICT, who has the expertise to implement a relevant and challenging curriculum within both subject areas within a KS3 rotation in addition to teaching Graphic Products at KS4.

The faculty is housed in excellent accommodation, including three ICT suites. The two Design Technology practical areas have recently been refurbished and the department benefits from excellent ICT access. The school has recently invested in a new ICT network across the school. Design Technology and ICT subjects are popular at GCSE and at present we offer AQA Design Technology, IMedia, Food and Nutrition, Hospitality and Catering, Textiles and Art. These are taught by five full time and two part time members of staff supported by two technicians.

The successful candidate will be joining a successful faculty which has high expectations of and for the students they teach. An ability to work well in a team and demonstrate an innovative and inspirational approach to teaching and learning is essential. Pittville is also part of the Balcarras Teaching Partnership in Cheltenham and have links with local post-16 colleges who are also supportive of our curriculum developments.

Pittville School is a good 11-16 school situated in a superb setting in the heart of Cheltenham. The school is heavily oversubscribed at Key Stage 3 and the school has seen is first preferences for places rise year on year. We are particularly proud that visitors to our school always comment on the excellent behaviour and attitude to learning exhibited by our pupils. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a developing curriculum area and be part of our school improvement journey.

As a school we will commit to your future professional development. We offer a training program to all new staff as well as our own INSET program. We are part of a Teaching School Partnership which offers a range of development programs and run our own SEND Network which also provides high quality, in house, training.
