We seek applications from those of the Catholic faith, all faiths and of no faith but who are supportive of our Christian values and ethos.

St Mary’s Catholic School are the secondary school in the newly established St Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy Trust. This is an exciting time to join St Mary’s.  We are seeking to appoint an ICT Technician (or apprentice ICT Technician) who can demonstrate creativity and flair, finding imaginative and effective solutions to delivering information to our School’s key stakeholders. Whether you are a school leaver, have some experience or looking to change careers, training and support will be available. There will be the option of enrolling onto a registered apprenticeship programme to gain a recognised qualification and career progression.

Working with the ICT manager, teachers and support staff, you will assist in the maintenance of the whole school’s ICT networks and systems to ensure that they are effective in supporting teaching, learning and administration and provide technical support for all users, students and staff.

The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of some or all of network systems, their installation, maintenance and adaptation and can demonstrate good working practices in relation to the handling and usage of ICT equipment and be willing and able to gain the skills, experience and qualifications to meet the ICT needs of the school. We can offer a varied and interesting workload, ranging from hardware installation, account queries and user support. If you are a responsible and self-motivated individual with a strong set of technical skills and can form good working relationships with colleagues and relate appropriately to students age 11-18, we would love to hear from you.

You will work term time plus the equivalent of two weeks (some of which may be extra hours during the working week or during periods of school closure). Should you enrol on an apprenticeship programme this may differ depending on the training program.

We are passionately committed to developing staff and managing workload to ensure that colleagues enjoy their work and recognise St. Mary’s as an almost-uniquely positive place to teach and enjoy their careers.  Students are keen to learn, colleagues are supportive, and there is a strong sense of inclusion and belonging where our Catholic ethos pervades all aspects of school life.

Visits to the school are warmly encouraged. Please email recruitment@stmarys.net  or call 01279 654901 x235 to arrange a visit.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  A DBS disclosure is required for all successful applicants.

St Mary’s is committed to the equality of opportunity for all applicants, and we reserve the right to interview on a rolling basis, therefore an early application is advisable.

Apply in writing using the forms available on our website www.stmarys.net: Support Staff Application Form, Consent to Obtain References Form, Rehabilitation of Offenders Form & Recruitment Monitoring Form.  Applicants are reminded that they should read the Notes to Applicants before completing an application. Please note only applications on St Mary’s forms will be accepted. Welcome

St. Mary’s has a strong tradition of providing an authentic education which aims to deliver excellence for every member of our Catholic community. It is our mission to build on that tradition as we develop the school still further over the years ahead.

Our school is built upon an ambitious mission for each and every young person: to fulfil academic potential; to be fully developed in the personal, social and spiritual areas of life; to achieve excellence in every area of life; and to be underpinned by Gospel Values, enabling each person to value individuals and contribute positively to society. We work in partnership with parents and the wider community to ensure that this mission is accomplished in the lives of all our young people, and in so doing, enable those young people to live life to the full.

The aims of the school are:

• the formation of our young people according to Gospel values;
• the fulfilment of the potential of our pupils in all aspects of the curriculum;
• the personal, social and spiritual development of our pupils into responsible, generous and caring members of society;
• the achievement of all these within a culture of respect and appreciation for the worth and contribution of each member of our school and its wider community.

In 1896, five Sisters from the Belgian congregation of St Mary of Namur came to Bishop's Stortford and established a school with just 9 students.  These pioneering Sisters were the first to provide Catholic education for the district, and the school rapidly became a success. Their legacy is St Mary’s Catholic School, and as we look to the future with high expectations for continued success, their vision continues to inspire us. This is expressed in our aspiration towards academic excellence founded on Gospel values. In practical terms this also means the best possible pastoral care and guidance and the challenge and support of a broad range of spiritual opportunities which permeate through all aspects of school life.
