Harris Academy South Norwood is currently looking to appoint an ICT Technician to join its team of specialists.

Your opportunity

Your responsibilities will be:

  • To provide an outstanding level of IT support and IT project related activities to staff, students and trainee teachers at both sites.
  • To ensure that all incidents and service requests are logged appropriately on the Service Management system
  • To image, deploy and maintain Windows 10 PCs, Laptops, Tablets, Apple Macs, iPads and other peripheral equipment such as scanners, printers, interactive whiteboards and projectors, ensuring that this hardware is regularly tested and ready for use when required.
  • To install and test new software and software updates / upgrades, ensuring compliance with software licensing regulations at all times.
  • To work with the IT Service Manager and Infrastructure team to support the on-site infrastructure elements, thus ensuring the availability and security of the network, data and applications. 
  • To manage Active Directory Distribution and Security groups within the Academy to ensure that staff, students and trainee teachers have appropriate access to the data and resources they need.

What we are looking for

The successful candidate will:

  • Demonstrate good knowledge of Microsoft products, including Office 365 and Office 2016, SharePoint and other desktop-related software products.
  • Have excellent troubleshooting skills, backed by a clear, analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Be self-motivated, with a can-do attitude and a strong commitment to teamwork and customer service.
  • Have the ability to self-manage, organise, and prioritise tasks and work under pressure during troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Be flexible and adaptable, and be able to handle the various pressures and demands associated with working in a highly customer focussed ICT support role.
  • Be a confident communicator with staff at all levels.
  • Have a minimum of two years’ experience of carrying out a similar, client facing role in either the primary or secondary education sector.
  • Ideally, you will also have relevant Microsoft training and qualifications to support the above experience, and an ITIL Foundation qualification.

Harris Academy South Norwood is an 11-18 Academy for 1,100 students that opened in September 2007, located in a purpose built, state-of-the-art new building.

Harris Academy South Norwood is an outstanding Academy and has excellent facilities for teaching and learning. We have the highest standards of behaviour and expectations. We have been recognised by the DFE as being one of the best schools in England for our type of intake and one of the most effective schools in the country, with pupil progress in the top 1% nationally. Our programmes for professionally developing staff are first class.

The Academy is a happy, hard-working and highly ambitious community in which students and staff treat one another with care and respect.
