Ivanhoe College was first established in 1954, in the town of Ashby, Leicestershire. The school has seen extensive redevelopment and modernisation since its founding, with a new science block and dinner hall being added since 2004. A co-educational middle school, Ivanhoe College has around 850 pupils aged 11-14, slightly smaller than an average secondary school. In addition to this, the school also has some provision for under-5s, although this is independently managed to the rest of the school. Ivanhoe College converted to academy status in 2012, although it is not part of any wider multi-academy trust.

Values and Vision

Ivanhoe College works in close conjunction with a number of local primary and secondary schools in order to ensure that pupils have the best possible outcomes and that transition into secondary school is achieved with the minimum amount of disruption. The school’s curriculum is designed to be engaging and inclusive, with a wide range of topics for pupils to explore. Outside of this, the school also provides a range of extra-curricular activities in order to further pupil’s personal development during what is an important time for their academic career.

Ofsted

“The academy values each individual, and a wide variety of activities adds richness to students’ experience and to their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Students achieve well. They make good progress and attainment at the end of Year 9 is above the levels expected for their age.”
