Saint George School is a co-educational bi-lingual school located in Santo Dominigo, Dominican Republic. The school was first established in 1965 as an English-language school, but soon changed to its current bilingual status. An international school, Saint George maintains a strong rage of teaching and recreational facilities on its single campus, and as such is able to boast of a wide range of sports facilities, music rooms, science labs, and common areas, all maintained to a high standard. Students start in the infant school at the age of two, where most teaching takes place in English and a strong focus on motor development and individual learning. Spanish language areas begin in the junior school, with the curriculum being split between Spanish and English-language teaching. The Middle School builds on this progress, introducing more subjects to a higher standard, and a greater level of personal development, whilst senior school students begin their studies into the International Baccalaureate Diploma, an internationally-recognised qualification accepted by a huge number of universities. The overall curriculum at Saint George had a strong British-style focus, as well as extensive Spanish and American elements.

Teaching Information

As a bilingual school, Spanish and English-language proficiency is an important aspect of teaching life at Saint George School. Teachers are expected to be engaged and involved in student life, helping the personal development of their pupils.
