Job overview

Hamford Primary Academy is looking to recruit an inspirational teacher to lead on inclusion and SEND. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to join the SLT as it restructures in order to distribute leadership across the school. We are looking to appoint a highly motivated and inspirational practitioner who can demonstrate and take responsibility for overseeing the achievement, progress and outcomes for children with special educational needs. You will be joining the school at a very exciting time as it opens its Autism Support Centre in September and is in the early stages of developing a dedicated Inclusion Centre. This position would suit a current ambitious middle or senior leader who is passionate about inclusion and SEND, but also keen to play a leading role in the academy’s development and drive to continually raise standards.

Hamford Primary Academy is a vibrant school within the Academies Enterprise Trust Group that is developing a curriculum relevant for the 21st century. Over the last four years the academy has undergone a significant transformation with a learning community grounded in our core framework (vision, mission, values and colleague pledges). In addition we place great emphasis on developing children’s character in order to prepare them for the challenges that lie ahead in both their education and life. As a result, the six Hamford characteristics of be responsible, be curious, be resilient, have integrity, be compassionate and be reflective, are explicitly taught and embedded through the assemblies and learning opportunities provided across the curriculum.

Our school was chosen to provide a primary enhanced provision for children with ASD in North East Essex. The purpose built provision will provide for up to 8 high functioning pupils aged 4 to 11 years to enable them to access mainstream provision. The successful applicant would be responsible for overseeing the success of this provision, including line managing the Lead Teacher for ASD.

Our vision is to inspire a culture of limitless learning and endless possibilities.

Our mission is to provide opportunities to challenge and be challenged.

Our values are happy because we are excited to learn, eager to explore and keen to meet a challenge; helpful because we encourage and support each other, welcome everyone and are a kind, caring community; honest because we tell the truth, play by the rules and be ourselves.

Our colleague pledges are: always child centered; always approachable; always look for solutions and always compassionate.

We encourage visits from prospective candidates to meet members of our school community and to experience our school at first hand. If you would like to do this, please contact our Business Manager, Peter Hamblin at phamblin@hamfordprimaryacademy.org or by phone on 01255 673415.

As  the sponsor, AET believes that all young people deserve to become world-class learners – to learn, enjoy, succeed and thrive in a first rate educational environment with the best facilities, the best teaching and the most up-to-date resources available to them.  In each of our academies, you will benefit from visionary, inspirational and dynamic leadership and be empowered to develop your own skills with access to world-class CPD and Talent Management programmes.  You will also be entitled to the following benefits: a health cash plan, vehicle affinity scheme, childcare vouchers and Westfield rewards.

This position is required to commence January 2018 or sooner if possible.

Closing date: Friday 29 September 2017.
Interviews are scheduled to take place Thursday 12 October 2017.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early should we receive an overwhelming response.  All candidates are advised to refer to the job description and person specification before making an application.
