Job overview

Are you currently a dynamic and highly motivated pastoral leader or aspirational for this newly created role working with incredibly talented young people in an unparalleled central London location?

Are you looking to work in a school which is ambitious for every child, is highly inclusive and where you will work alongside exceptional colleagues who will support you to be your best?

Are you determined to reduce rates of exclusion within a mainstream education setting?

Westminster City School is a successful 11-18 boys’ Christian non-denominational comprehensive academy with a mixed sixth form. Ours is a vibrant learning community situated in the heart of the capital with all the opportunities and advantages of an inner city school. In March 2022, the school’s OFSTED inspection confirmed that the school remains a ‘Good’ school but we are restless in our ambition to be ‘Outstanding’ in time for the school’s 150th anniversary in 2027.

You, like us, will share our belief that the highest standards of academic attainment in a comprehensive setting are only possible within a well-ordered environment.

The successful candidate will have:

·        Strong personal values of integrity and compassion;

·        Experience of delivering a comprehensive programme of academic and pastoral support for vulnerable learners;

·        Belief that a ‘warm strict’ approach secures excellent outcomes for all learners within all key stages; and

·        Management and organisational skills that allow colleagues to innovate and be held accountable for ambitious targets.

All students have access to a wide range of opportunities, including work experience and mentoring. The Inclusion Manager position will oversee a team who provide exceptional support for vulnerable learners as they make key decisions.

“From the start, pupils receive effective targeted support to help them meet their ambitions. Pupils are well prepared to make choices, for example for GCSE and post 16 options." OFSTED 2022

The school environment is purposeful, and OFSTED commented on how students saw the school as a family where ‘...low-level disruption to learning the curriculum is rare.’ In addition, ‘…pupils appreciate the clear rewards and sanctions system that leaders have put in place to ensure that the school is calm and orderly.

We believe in developing our staff and have a dynamic and supportive management team and an effective CPD programme. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will need to undertake an enhanced criminal record check via the DBS.

We would particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates.
