Job overview

“The principal, governors and the Trust have a shared vision for the school that is based upon high aspirations for its pupils. Leaders are committed to ensuring that pupils continue to make good and improving progress.” Ofsted, November 2017

Wymondham High is a very successful and oversubscribed 11 – 18 Academy, 8 miles from Norwich:

• A “Good school” with an “Outstanding” Sixth Form [Ofsted, November 2017]

• Tatler magazine Top 20 State School 2018

• Top 5 Attaining State School in Norfolk 2017

Inclusion Support Officer

32.5 hours per week, Term time + 1 week

NJC Scale E £13,325 per annum

To start as soon as possible

During our recent Ofsted inspection, the team stated that: “Behaviour in and out of lessons is good. Pupils are polite, courteous and respectful. Their enjoyment of school is demonstrated by their high levels of attendance and their punctuality to lessons.”

We are looking for someone who, as part of our inclusion team, will help us to ensure that in 3 years the behaviour of our pupils is outstanding. This will be an exciting journey. We have already made great strides and our fixed and permanent and fixed exclusion rates are very low. This role will involve working directly with children, every hour of every day. You will be expected to support our internal exclusion unit [IEU] and the inclusion team to ensure our pupils feel safe, and understand that behaving appropriately is important in helping them, and others, learn.

Attitude and confidence are as important as experience. You may be currently working with young people; you may want to apply because you want experience of working in a large secondary school in preparation for a future career. What’s important to us is your motivation to make a difference. For the right candidate we can be flexible about hours. We would actively encourage potential applicants to visit the Academy, talk to the inclusion team and gain an understanding of how we work.

Prior to this, follow us on Twitter @WyHighAcademy or Facebook facebook.com/wymondhamhighacademy.

For further information, please e-mail tarrs@wh-at.net or contact Mr Simon Tarr [Assistant Principal, Inclusion] on 01953 602078.

Ref: 4060/S/JGI/225

Closing Date: 9am Tuesday 6th March 2018

Interview Date: Thursday 15th March 2018

We are committed to offering excellent professional opportunities for our staff, through careful support and personalised CPD. About Wymondham High Academy

We are a high performing and over-subscribed school in the heart of Norfolk. A community that works together to do our best for our students, parents and staff that models our core values of responsibility, determination and humility in all our actions.

We have extremely high expectations and are committed to helping every one of our students become the best version of themselves. We believe in traditional values of hard work, politeness, and kindness. We aim to instil a sense of strong self-belief, dreaming big and aiming high in our young people.  We provide an ambitious curriculum high in challenge and creativity to enable all learners to participate in the full range of experiences, as well as a culture in which students are committed to making outstanding progress and achieving excellence, always supported by our exceptional team of staff. Alongside this, we offer an excellent standard of pastoral care through a dedicated team who work exceptionally hard to ensure our pupils have the very best chance of success.

We are building something for our students and community that is special, and whilst we are proud of our GCSE and A level results, we know we can achieve much more together.

Working at Wymondham High is a brilliant and unique experience. We value our staff highly and treat workload very seriously. All of our systems are focused on ensuring teachers can teach in a sustainable way without distractions of poor behaviour or bureaucracy.

What we offer:

  • Great students – working with them is a joy and you can have a significant impact on their lives.
  • Highly supportive senior leaders who are visible and have your back.
  • Very clear routines, including same-day centralised detentions, that support excellent behaviour.
  • A shorter school day once per week to provide weekly CPD sessions.

Next year will see the start of a £10m+ building development on site to include a new sports hall and state-of-the-art technology facilities. This will expand on our already-excellent facilities.

It’s a great time to join our school and we look forward to meeting people who share our values and our core focus; to do what is right for the children in our care and not what looks good to others.
