Job overview

A unique opportunity has been presented through the creation of a brand new “Student Referral Centre” that will be operating at Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy at the start of the academic year 2021/22.

Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy seeks to appoint two talented, experienced Inclusions Managers who possess the emotional and mental dexterity to work alongside the leadership team to deal with behavioural, pastoral and welfare issues.

The identification of disengaged students will be the first element of the role, with the second element being the planning of intervention programmes that will support the academy both with reducing the number of repeat students referred to the SRC and also in reducing the number of Fixed Term Exclusions at the Academy. The successful candidates will have the necessary skills required to develop strong, purposeful and respectful professional relationships with the students and their families which are firmly focused on improving educational opportunities.

The new Student Referral Centre (SRC), which is being built over the summer, will provide the successful candidates with the opportunity to shape the role and have a positive impact on the academic and social progress of students who, in some cases, are currently finding it a challenge to succeed in school.

The SRC will have two key functions:

1. As a sanction for poor behaviour in line with the academy\'s behaviour policy.

The behaviour managers will ensure that our students complete all required school work and do not fall behind academically whilst they provide the necessary support and challenge aimed to address the root cause of the poor choices and behaviours.

2. To develop and deliver a targeted programme of behavioural therapy to students.

Providing high quality education to meet the needs of every child lies at the heart of the work that we do. We celebrate the individuality of all our pupils and as such we know we need to provide effective challenge and support to enable them to realise their full potential, both academically and socially. The work carried out in the SRC is of vital importance as it aims to ensure that these goals are met by all of our students. In collaboration with professionals and external agencies, the SRC will support some of our most vulnerable students by developing bespoke programmes which will aim to support our students to succeed in school life; helping them to self-regulate and prepare them academically and emotionally for the challenges they will face both inside the mainstream classroom, and in the world beyond.

The successful candidates will report directly to the Director of Behavioural Services and will have a creative and innovative approach to their area of work as well as an ability to embrace and promote change. They will understand the importance of their work not only from the context of supporting the academy on it’s journey of school improvement but also the potential far reaching positive impact on students and their families beyond their time at Stationers\' Crown Woods Academy.

The Inclusions Manager will need to:

  • Be a good role model for students.
  • Develop a relationship with students which is professional, firm, fair and caring
  • Implement the Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy behaviour policy and deal with student behaviour issues.
  • Be the point of contact and liaison between families and other student/children's agencies, such as social services or child health as required.
  • Be friendly, helpful and welcoming to parents/guardians and others visiting or making contact with the school.
