Christ the King Catholic Voluntary Academy is an oversubscribed, successful 11-18 school, with a well-regarded reputation for the quality of the education and pastoral support we provide.  We are currently seeking to appoint an Independent Study Room Supervisor to support students within the Academy.

This role mostly involves working closely with a small number of students and building positive working relationships in order to help students wherever possible, engage fully in school life.  The role includes establishing firm routines and helping students to reflect on inappropriate behaviour, sourcing work from class teachers for students, ensuring it is returned to the teacher, supervising students whilst they work and helping them to access the work where appropriate. The appointed person must be able to build effective professional relationships with students and staff and be a confident communicator. There may also be times when you are used to supervise a lesson where a colleague is absent.

Applicants must have a minimum of five GCSEs or equivalent which includes English and Maths. Previous experience of working in a school or supervising students would be helpful. The right applicant should have strong communication and IT skills and be able to demonstrate an ability to support students both in a pastoral and academic capacity.  The academy values equality and diversity and welcomes applications from all sectors of the community.

Christ the King Voluntary Catholic Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  The successful applicant will be expected to undertake pre-employment checks which will include a Disclosure and Baring Service check.

One of the main advantages of being a smaller that average secondary school is that we are small enough to create and maintain a caring, sharing Catholic ethos within the school whilst being large enough to give a wide range of curriculum and other opportunities to all of our students.

We are a well-equipped, purpose built Catholic Secondary School situated in a pleasant suburban area to the North-East of Nottingham.  We strive to ensure that each young person is safe, happy and successful and we pride ourselves on providing an excellent educational experience.

Our school is part of the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Multi-Academy Trust which brings together the 36 Catholic Primary and Secondary schools in Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire. Our priority is to ensure the very best Catholic Education for all young people in our community, whatever their circumstances. We will achieve this together, through a strategic approach to sharing best practice, effective challenge and support from a central standards and performance team and opportunities for high quality Continuing Professional Development offered by the CMAT’s teaching school, The Nottingham Initial Teacher Training Hub.
