Job overview

We are looking to appoint highly motivated Key Workers to join our talented and supportive team. You should be a positive and enthusiastic person who loves working with children and helping them to strive for their best.

You should have a high standard of general education with good numeracy and literacy skills.  You will be able to communicate effectively with children and adults, have a flexible attitude and be friendly and approachable. Experience of working with children is essential, as is good time management and the ability to work flexibly using your own initiative are essential.  All applications will be considered and while SEN experience would be an advantage, it is not essential as relevant training will be given to the right candidate.

The main focus of the role is to provide 1:1 support to pupils in receipt of high needs funding, but your responsibilities may include:-

• Supporting children in achieving the lesson objective in English, Maths and across all areas of the curriculum

• Leading 1:1 and group intervention programmes

• Feeding back to the class teacher, maintaining records of progress and behaviour

• Working with children to support any social, emotional, behavioural, personal care or medical needs

• Liaising with parents and external professionals

Children will be at the heart of your work. You must be able to demonstrate that you understand the importance of educating the whole child, that you want the very best for them and are prepared to put their needs first.

In cases where we receive a high volume of applications for a post, we may bring the closing date forward.  Therefore you are advised to submit your completed application form as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

We offer:

• Competitive rates of pay

• Increased professional development and career opportunities including an extensive and specialised training package

• An excellent induction programme

• On-going mentoring and coaching sessions

• A very supportive and widely experienced team.

The Compass Community values equality and diversity across our workforce and aims to ensure our staff community is reflective of the diversity of the children and young people within our care. In support of this commitment we welcome applications from individuals of Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds.

We are a school based in Folkestone with space for up to 37 pupils, including primary and secondary aged 5-17.

Our highly trained and experienced education team work closely with parents, carers, multi-agency professionals, key workers and programme psychologists to holistically support children and young people with a range of challenging presentations, particularly Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and attachment difficulties. We have a relentless drive to achieve the very best possible outcomes for every one of our students.

No matter what stage of learning our students are working at when they arrive, we provide a targeted, broad and balanced curriculum that maintains high academic aspirations without losing sight of the child themselves. We support them to engage fully in education, find a love for learning, develop their self-esteem and resilience, and provide them with the skills, knowledge and opportunities they need to take the next step in their life.
