Description

The Catholic Schools Office is inviting applications for a school IT Support Officer for ASC St Peters Campus Maitland. This position is temporary, working 15 hrs per week. The school has a network infrastructure based on Microsoft Windows, which provides internet services and access to common software applications. The purpose of this role is to provide direct technical and user support at the school particularly to student devises. Duties will include installation of IT equipment and software, reimaging staff devises and updating school management devices. Student help desk will be central to the role resolving BYOD student device issues and Office 365 accounts as well as general support for our Administration office. 

Position Requirements

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate: 

  • technical skill with installing and maintaining desktop operating systems 
  • working knowledge of a range of software programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Active Directory, MN Connect and Sentral 
  • server/client network & network component skills 
  • capacity to assist in managing technology throughout the school 
  • enthusiasm, proactivity and capacity to adapt 
  • ability to work effectively as part of a team 
  • sound communication skills 
  • knowledge of both windows operating systems 
  • support the ethos of Catholic education 

Essential Criteria 

The position requires a person with/or working towards TAFE (or equivalent) qualification in IT. It is a requirement that you hold a current Working With Children clearance. Please record your clearance number on your application. 

Desirable Criteria 

  • Experience with Microsoft’s Server product range (Windows Server, Active Directory, Office 365) 
  • Experience with Microsoft System Center for client application management 
  • Experience with school administration software including Sentral, Edval

About All Saints College - St Peter's Campus

St Peter’s Maitland is a mixed, non-selective, Catholic secondary school in New South Wales, serving students from the age of 11-16. The secondary school is situated in Maitland, and is part of the multi-campus main school – All Saints College, along with St Mary’s Campus Maintalnd, serving students from the age of 16-18, and St Joseph’s Lochinvar, serving pupils from the age of 11-16. 

St Peter’s Maitland was founded as an all-boy school in 1838, and has been at its present site since 1874. The school works closely with the Marist Brothers and the Diocese of Maitland Newcastle.

The school has facilities including a library, science laboratories, modern classrooms, a computer suite and a sports hall. 

Curriculum

St Peter’s Maitland offers a varied learning curriculum adhering with the national curriculum while at the same time giving space for individuals to specialise in areas of interest in Year 9 onwards, that will help benefit them for their future. Along with optional modules, which include Indonesian, visual design and dance, pupils also have the opportunity to undertake Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses, which require them to complete a work placement. The school also places a great emphasis on IT training, and has a bring your own device policy, allowing all pupils to learn in class with a computer.
