Job overview

The Guernsey Grammar School and Sixth Form Centre is looking to appoint with effect from September 2020 or January 2021 for two years, an enthusiastic, dynamic and well-qualified, senior leader with the vision and energy to deliver high standards of teaching and learning, and to make a full contribution to the ethos, identity and life of the School and to the Guernsey Federation of Secondary Schools.

Secondary Education in Guernsey has been going through an exciting period of significant change over the past two years with a vision to redesign the existing model of delivery as part of an ambitious strategy to transform educational provision and outcomes across the Bailiwick.  The latest stage of this process is the commencement of a full review of secondary education models and this is an excellent opportunity to be part of the exciting transformation of secondary and post 16 education in Guernsey.

The successful candidate will be someone who is passionate about supporting and raising students’ individual achievements with innovative ideas to build on existing good practice, alongside being able to demonstrate excellence in teaching and learning. They will be part of a team who identify, support and enable personalised opportunities for students, and deliver the new Bailiwick Curriculum including a range of international and UK qualifications. The person appointed will be committed to the role in the context of the development of a new school model.

Employed by the States of Guernsey and based at the Guernsey Grammar School and Sixth Form Centre you will be required to maximise opportunities for collaborative working, teaching and learning across Key Stages and shared professional development across schools. The transition plans for the new structure may also mean you will work from an alternative site.
