CHS South would like to appoint an Internal staff member to the role of Assistant Head Teacher.

This is a Fixed Term role starting 1st September 2023 until 31st August 2024, following this you will revert to your substantive post.

Main purpose of the job:

In addition to those professional responsibilities which are common to all classroom teachers in the school, the post holder’s key responsibilities will be:

  • To be a proactive member of the Senior Leadership Team and support the Headteacher to secure the best educational provision and the highest possible outcomes for students.
  • To support the Headteacher in all aspects of school improvement, playing a strategic role in raising the standards of teaching, learning and student achievement together with the standards of attendance, behaviour and appearance of all students.
  • To take full responsibility for leading and managing significant aspects of the school under the overall direction of the Headteacher.

Key relationships:

The Assistant Headteacher will work with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the Local Governing Body, the Staff, and wider stakeholders to support the development and implementation of the direction and strategy for the School.

About CHS South

Welcome to CHS South, our new 11-16 eight-form entry, mixed, comprehensive school opened in conjunction with Chorlton High School. We received our first Ofsted inspection in January 2023 and were graded as ‘good’ in all areas. In the report Inspectors comment that, “CHS South is a welcoming and supportive community. Pupils are proud of their school. Pupils understand the school values of ‘ready, respectful, safe’, and they try hard to follow them in all that they do.”

CHS South was opened in September 2018 to allow more young people in our community to access the successful model developed at our oversubscribed sister school, Chorlton High School.  This model ensures we provide an education built on the values of offering every young person we encounter the skills needed to craft a creative, happy & successful future.  These values are articulated in our school intent below:
