About the role 

We are seeking to appoint Intervention Tutors to join our curriculum teams to support our efforts in school-led tutoring. This role is to work in or outside of lessons, in small group and one to one tutoring sessions. This position is offered as part time and can be flexible within normal school hours. This position will be reporting to the AHT Assessment and Reporting in the core subject of Maths.

We are looking for someone who:

• Desirable - Has a qualification at A level (Inc. equivalents) Maths

• Desirable - Has a qualification at Degree level in a subject linked to Maths

• Will relate positively to all learners

• Has a good understanding of the needs and characteristics of students across the age range 11-19

• Has excellent communication skills

• Is extremely reliable, enthusiastic and flexible 

• Has good verbal communication skills. 

• Can demonstrate a commitment to teamwork


Experience of working (paid or unpaid) with children of the appropriate age range would be desirable. The successful candidates will ensure that pupils are assessed and tutored to improve their skills, knowledge and understanding of Maths.

All staff are expected to know what to do if they have concerns about a child, take on the responsibility for providing a safe environment and promoting children’s welfare, undertake regular safeguarding and child protection training and, familiarise themselves with KCSIE part 1 and local policies and procedures as directed by the trust/academy.

Blue Coat is a successful and oversubscribed school in the heart of the city of Coventry.  As a Christian school our intake draws from both the local area and across the city and surrounding areas.  Consequently we have a diverse intake and a culturally thriving school. The school was graded 'Outstanding' in its SIAMS inspection and 'Good' by Ofsted in May 2023 with 3 'Outstanding' categories. Our most recent Progress 8 score was +0.42.  The vast majority of our students stay on into the sixth form and continue their studies.
