About The King Edmund School

The King Edmund School is a co-educational comprehensive school for students aged 11 to 19. It is situated in an attractive semi rural area of Rochford, voted one of the top 10 best places to live in the UK. The town and its surrounding rural area north of Southend in Essex is just 40 minutes from central London and well served by transport link such as Southend Airport.

The school has:

• Strong student progress and achievement

• Outstanding pastoral care

• An excellent reputation in the local community

• A dedicated and enthusiastic team of teachers and support staff

• Superb facilities and resources

Our school is one where everyone is encouraged and supported to achieve their personal best, be it a student, a member of staff or a Governor. We treat each other equitably and with mutual respect which helps foster a culture where everyone feels valued and has a heightened sense of belonging.

We are committed to providing a broad and balanced curriculum and the highest standard of teaching to maximise student successes and personal achievements. We have excellent facilities including an extensive library, computer suites, music rooms, conference suites and a swimming pool. We provide a wide range of enrichment at KES, including extra-curricular activities, trips and tours abroad, guest speakers and special events such as concerts and shows.

Due to our ongoing commitment to provide high quality teaching, we are currently seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals who consistently work to a very high standard, to join our school, in particular within our core subject faculties Mathematics and Science, and help us in our pursuit of excellence and move from Ofsted ‘good’ to ‘outstanding’.

You would be joining a ‘good’ school passionate about their students and about those students succeeding and achieving their ‘Personal Best’. We can offer highly competitive salaries and a recruitment and retention allowance and relocation package and laptop, to secure the right candidates. We also run a comprehensive induction programme with ongoing support and guidance throughout the year, that includes dedicated school mentors, coaches and the internal Twilight CPD Programme. There is also high potential at the school for career progression through our various Teacher Programmes, such as the Outstanding Teacher Programme, and the opportunity to embark on Masters Programmes. We are committed to helping everyone become a ‘good’ teacher and provide the opportunities and support to eventually become an outstanding practitioner.

It is important for all applicants to see the school in full operation during a normal school day. Therefore, visits to the school are warmly welcomed and positively encouraged to assist you in your application. Please contact the HR department on 01702 545771 extension 3288 to arrange a visit.
