We are seeking to appoint a positive and dynamic Isolation Manager who will be responsible for the day-to-day running of our Isolation Room ensuring that pupils are effectively supervised, that high standards of behaviour are maintained and that pupils learning is maximised. 

The Isolation Room is a key part of the school behaviour management system. It serves to help pupils modify any unacceptable behaviours and to promote positive attitudes and values in line with the ethos of the school. 

The successful candidate will:

• Be educated to a good standard with a minimum of GCSE Grade C in English and Mathematics or equivalent

• Have the ability to motivate and assist pupils with their learning 

• Have the ability to manage the emotional demands of working with young people with a wide range of behavioural, social and emotional issues

• Have the ability to remain positive under challenging circumstances

• Have a knowledge and understanding of strategies to remove barriers to learning

• Be able to establish relationships with pupils, colleagues and other professionals

• Have good organisation and time management skills 

• Have excellent communication skills 

• Experience of working in a school or similar educational setting is desirable but not essential

Essential qualities for all applicants include amongst other things:

• The ability to effectively communicate with children/young people, school staff and outside agencies

• The ability to develop and deliver training and induction to staff with regards to behaviour management systems

• The ability to work with children/young people exhibiting challenging and severe behavioural difficulties

• An understanding of child development and learning including Special Educational Needs and also Child Protection Procedures

• Experience of mentoring and one to one support with young people, including those with challenging behaviour
