The Exciting Role 

The College Group is looking for a full-time level 3 Apprentice to join our IT & Network Services team for the duration of the apprenticeship. This role will primarily be based at Accrington and Rossendale College Campus, but you may be asked to cover other college sites on occasion within the college group.

As an IT Helpdesk Apprentice, you’ll be working closely with our First, Second and Third Line technicians as they support our existing and new staff and students’ IT requirements. You’ll have a keen interest in IT and must be able to work as part of a busy support team. Working closely with other departments you will need to build relationships with both internal and external customers.

What You Will Be Doing

• To provide a high quality ‘first point of contact’ 1st Line service for the IT Services department, in a fast-paced environment, dealing with phone calls, emails and face-to-face enquiries, ensuring progression of issues towards resolution

• To answer internal and external enquiries in a courteous and informative manner, providing excellent customer care at all times

• To perform remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions, recording events, problems and their resolution in the helpdesk software

What We Are Looking For:

• Maths and English at Grade 4 / C or above

• Level 2 qualification or equivalent technical qualifications

• Additional qualification in a technical IT subject (desirable) 

• Proven working experience in a client-facing team environment with strong communication skills and ability to work under pressure (desirable) 

• Demonstrable experience in offering information, advice and training to customers and team members including the creation of manuals (desirable)

Nelson and Colne College, located in the town of Nelson, Lancashire, offers further education to 1,600 full-time students and 3,500 part-time adults. The college was founded during the reorganisation of education in Pendle in the early 1970s and created by the merger of several local sixth forms. 

Recent investments have included a £2m engineering facility, an all-weather sports pitch and gym, fully equipped science laboratories, and student study and social spaces.
