IT Network Manager 

Grade 10 pt 35 – 38 £30,480 - £33,106 per annum – negotiable for the right candidate 

Full time 37 hours per week, all year round

 A Network Manager is needed to join a team of school IT specialists in providing the full range of curriculum and administration services to a Multi Academy Trust (The Bosco Catholic Education Trust), opening on the 1st April, initially comprising of one secondary and one primary school. This is an exciting time to join the Trust, as we bring in other schools and build our own processes and procedures. The successful applicant will be based at St Philip Howard Catholic School in Barnham, but will be expected to travel between each of the sites as we expand. 

This is a traditional “hands on” managerial role involving purchasing, management of hardware and software, licensing and working with 3rd parties.  

Key Skills: Network Engineer, ICT, MIS, Windows, security. 

This will include: 

• Producing and maintaining the strategic technical plan for ICT/IT 

• Identify, plan and cost all future developments and upgrades to the school’s ICT infrastructure and liaise with senior management and external contractors accordingly

 • Liaise with appropriate suppliers regarding purchasing requirements and licensing 

• Attending regular meetings with the school business manager, and on occasion with school governors/trustees

 • Manage the installation of new networks and network services liaising as appropriate with external bodies such as consultants, contracted installers and suppliers 

• Oversee/carry out repairs/servicing of ICT equipment including PC’s, laptops, projectors and printers 

• Ensure teachers and associate staff have access to training in the use of all systems and contribute to that training as appropriate

 • Develop the IT policy for the Trust 

Working with an experienced Assistant Network Manager, a Web Manager and an apprentice, you will assist in building up an effective IT network that serves learning and improves outcomes for students, whilst supporting innovation in terms of IT support packages. 

Required licence or certification:  Driving Licence

SPH is a co-educational 11-18 Catholic comprehensive school, which in April 2017 became an academy leading the Bosco Catholic Education Trust. The school and Trust’s ethos is based on its Catholic character with collaborative relationships and high standards being central to our work. Area Information

SPH is located in the village of Barnham, 200m from the train station which has quick links to the surrounding areas, including main coastal link between Portsmouth and Brighton, as well as from London to the coast (London-Victoria 90 minutes, Brighton 40 minutes and Chichester 8 minutes). As well as from the immediate area, staff easily commute from Brighton, Portsmouth, Horsham, Guildford and Chichester areas, benefitting from reduced rail prices and an accessible road network.

Barnham is one of the 'Six Villages' of West Sussex and has a range of shops, schools, post office and mainline railway station. Nearby is the picturesque town of Arundel and the cities of Chichester and Brighton, accessible via the A27.  Within easy reach of the village are several golf courses, sailing at Chichester harbour, the horse racing courses at Goodwood and Fontwell, Goodwood motor racing circuit and aerodrome, some very good beaches and of course the South Downs which provide numerous opportunities for delightful walks.
