Job type:

Job overview

Bobby Moore Academy opened on its primary school site in September 2017 with one year group of students (Year 7). In September 2018 the secondary site will open nearby and the school will grow to host Reception, Year 7 and Year 8 and will then continue to fill each year until it becomes an all-through school.

We are looking for someone that is highly motivated, is able to act on their own initiative and keen to form part of a team setting the highest possible standards for IT service to our staff and students.

Everything in the school is of course new, which presents both opportunities and inevitably, teething problems. Based on the experience of operating at more than thirty other sites, the Trust has specified a system that will give a good service to staff and students whilst being forward thinking in the way it uses cloud-based services for anytime-anywhere access.

Until now the school have had support from European Electronique who installed the systems there, however we have now reached the right time to take the service in-house. The service desk manager will be the only member of the Trust IT support team based full time at the Bobby Moore site, with fortnightly additional support on premises from a senior member of the IT team and of course access to more than twenty other technicians located across our network of schools to advise and support.

We are looking for someone that will grow with the post - as new services and opportunities are rolled out from a very simple starting point, taking ownership and pride in ensuring they run well for all our users. As a new site, it is vital that good working practices and approaches are put in place early so that as things develop we can develop with them. In addition, as the academy is still in its early stages of development, the post holder will be responsible for managing data at the site, ensuring databases are set up correctly and designing and running suitable reports.

We very much hope to find a candidate that will want to commit to work with us in the long term as the academy grows.

We offer a positive and professional environment, working with teachers that are striving to offer the best possible education to young people. As a member of our team you can be a key part of making that happen. Our IT system is leading edge and offers a good opportunity to gain experience with some key technologies such as:

"    A federated, multi-site network, which is a hybrid of on-premises and hosted.
"    Both Office 365 and Google Apps working together with single sign on to give users the best possible 'cloud experience.'
"    ZenDesk helpdesk software and Help Centre for users.
"    Mobile Device Manager systems.
"    Best-in-class AV systems for classroom use.

We offer the opportunity to work alongside experienced IT support staff in many settings (albeit mostly on-line rather than face to face), meaning that this post is equally suitable for someone who is relatively new to IT support and wants to rapidly develop their skills or a colleague with existing specialism and skills that would enjoy working in a generalist role.
