Job overview

We are recruiting an Assessor in Professional Construction to join our excellent Technology Department at Derby College. This is a fantastic opportunity to pass on your specialist knowledge and prepare our apprentices for the next phase of their lives. You will be joining an experienced, forward-thinking and vibrant department that has a clear focus on the apprentice learning experience and seeing them achieve great results.

You will be a dynamic, professional individual with relevant vocational qualifications and will be joining a team that delivers training and assesses in the Construction sector, specifically in Professional Construction Level 3 apprenticeships. You will hold at least a Level 3 recognised qualification in the subject area and have recent experience in industry. You will also hold an Assessor qualification (A1 Award or equivalent) and an Internal Verifier qualification (V1 award) is desirable. If you don’t currently hold an Internal Verifier qualification, we will provide full support to enable you to achieve this.

You will deliver a high-quality learning and assessment experience to our apprentices, adding your experience and skills to the team and using this to benefit and inspire the future workforce. Within this role you will also build relationships with local employers.

This role is based at our Roundhouse campus, and you will also have the opportunity to work at home and will visit local employer sites. Other examples of benefits you’ll have access to as a Derby College employee include access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, discounts at selected retailers, free eyecare tests and discounted rail travel.

A full driving licence and transport are essential for this role.

The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
