Overview and purpose of the role:

• To co-ordinate the local employment programme based at Stepping Stones School. 

• To be responsible for the young people’s overall welfare and progress into the world of employment when on placement

• To play an integral role in developing the relationships between businesses and young people. 

• To seek new business opportunities to ensure a rolling portfolio of placements.

• To maintain high quality communications between, work, home and school and ensure that the young people progress in transitioning their skills and targets, supporting them to become independent learners and workers. 

• To support an environment where young people aspire, thrive and achieve

Key Responsibilities 

• Maintain accurate student records relating to work undertaken, progress, communications and emotional health and well being 

• Source new businesses for the employability portfolio and work with other employment partners.

• Build relationships with young people, managers and employees in the building

• Liaise with school Multi-disciplinary team and employees to ensure work-based skills are developed and tracked.

• Provide the businesses with important information regarding the needs of the young people (e.g pen portraits / medical information) & ongoing support to communicate roles & placement information.

• Prepare the young people for their placements via familiarisation visits and information packs.

• Support the young people in their placements 

• Support the young people to transfer their therapeutic development targets into each placement.

• Attend and collate any supporting information for EHCP Meetings where appropriate.

• Attend and collate any supporting information for Exiting from Education Meetings.

• Ensure contingency plans are in place for any potential problems/staff absences.

• Support families investigate next steps when a young person is exiting education to work.

• Ensure best practice and continuity across the sites by using the Standard Operational Procedures

• Manage each Young Person’s professional portfolio for the collation, recording and use of feedback from each placement

• Ensure all company / placement policies and procedures are adhered to

• Prioritise own workload and organise own work to meet priorities
