Job overview

We are interested to hear from teachers of Design Technology (Catering/Textiles).

Castle View Enterprise Academy opened in September 2009 as one of the original sponsored academies with Northumbrian Water as our main sponsor. Our school set out to provide exceptional opportunities for young people in our local area with a view to raise their aspirations, encourage their talents, develop confidence and build self-esteem.

As a result of our success within the local area, CVEA is a popular and highly oversubscribed school. We have expanded our student roll and are further developing our partnerships with other institutions.

We strive for academic excellence to enable our students to take up places at top universities, enter college or employment. We also place great emphasis on the development of character education, work ethic, striving for personal best and career development.

In recent years we have developed an onsite CCF, Duke of Edinburgh Awards, Sports Academies in cricket and football and we have our own Performing Arts School (Inspire). The Academy actively encourages all staff and students to take part in extracurricular activities. Staff give their time freely to develop students, offer additional support and interventions for academic success.

We are seeking to appoint a talented and committed individual who is keen to step into Senior Management in a challenging environment. The successful candidate will work within CVEA with a view to progressing the needs and outcomes of our student’s, plus developing professionally yourself through Masters or NPQ programmes.

You will be expected to carry out your own professional development and the responsibility for seeking out other opportunities that will ensure you are able to fulfil the demands of the responsibility. We anticipate that the role will evolve over time and will prepare you for Senior Leadership opportunities both within and beyond CVEA.

The programme will initially consist of:

Teaching

18/19 teaching periods of a 29 period week.

Leadership

SLT development of a whole school priority area – Teaching and Learning, Curriculum and Quality Assurance.

Line managing subjects across the school.

SLT Duties

You will be expected to undertake SLT duties, shadowing the Vice Principals within the school.

To arrange a visit, please contact Miss Ann Spence on 0191 5946330.

Closing date for applications will be Monday 23 May at 12 noon.

Interviews are planned for Thursday 26 May and/or Friday 27 May.
