Purpose of the Job:
To follow the instructions of the Facilities Manager to maintain a safe and suitable working environment for staff and students. The holder of this post will respond to the priorities given by the Facilities Manager and must be committed to completing tasks using their own initiative and must be able to manage their own time effectively. Good attendance and punctuality are key requirements of the role. This role is a great opportunity for a proactive person to assist with the provision of onsite security, maintenance and cleanliness.
The Facilities Supervisor (at the request of the Facilities Manager) will have responsibility for the daily supervision of the Junior Facilities Assistant where applicable.

AM Shift
Monday- Thursday 07:30-16:00
Friday 07:30-15:30
PM Shift
Monday-Thursday 13:30-22:00
Friday 10:00-18:00
Duties and responsibilities:
General
- Assist with the set up and down of meeting and classrooms including the lecture theatre.
- Move items to and from storage as requested by the academic staff.
- Arrange and carry out movement of furniture and other equipment.
- Respond to requests from the Facilities Manager to carry out minor maintenance jobs e.g. changing light bulbs, hanging frames and painting etc.
- Complete purchase order requisition forms upon the request of the Facilities Manager
- Provide stocks of beverages for the 5th floor kitchen (coffee, tea, milk etc.).
- Assist with the setting up and clearing down for large onsite functions and events. The jobholder may be required to work outside the usual working week during events and occasionally may be required to work at weekends.
- Be responsive to requests from Academy staff and especially at short notice.
- Be prepared to work a split shift on a fortnightly basis.
- Report to the Facilities Supervisor and or Facilities Manager any shortfalls in service from the Academy’s contractors.
Security, Safety & Hygiene
- Assist with the access control system and production of staff and student identification badges.
- The Junior Facilities Assistant must be constantly vigilant to the conditions and flow of personnel into and out of the building demonstrating an ability to communicate effectively to staff, students and visitors should an issue arise.
- Carry out weekly, monthly safety maintenance checks identifying potential hazards, taking immediate action where necessary.
- Working with the contracted day cleaner, monitor and check on a daily basis the cleanliness of toilets, common and external areas.
- Cover for the contracted day cleaner in his absence.
- Act as an Academy fire warden.
- Provide effective support as directed to the Fashion Retail Academy staff on an ad hoc basis.
- Carry out all duties as requested by the Facilities Manager with regards to health and safety requirements and legislation.
Carry out all other duties as reasonably requested by the Facilities Manager in keeping with the spirit of the role
