Job overview

CITY OF LONDON FREEMEN’S SCHOOL
Ashtead Park, Surrey KT21 1ET
HMC Independent Co-educational Day and Boarding School
915 pupils: 7-18 years

A well-qualified Junior School KS2 Class Teacher is required from September 2018. The ability to teach all general NC Key Stage 2 subjects is essential. A willingness to participate in games (hockey, netball, tennis, football, rugby, cricket and, in particular, x-country running) and experience/interest in directing/producing school plays would be advantageous but neither is crucial.

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to give strong pastoral support to the pupils in the School. The successful candidate will be willing to contribute to the extra curricular life of this busy school. This role would suit an NQT or an experienced teacher.

Salary will be determined according to qualifications and experience. The City of London Freemen’s School operates its own salary scale which is substantially above the national pay scales.

About City of London Freemen's School

City of London Freemen’s School is a mixed, selective, non-denominational all-through school with sixth form situated in Ashtead, Surrey. It is an independent boarding school owned by the City of London Corporation, which provides 16 of its 22 governors. The school will provide 920 places for primary, secondary and sixth-form students aged 7-18, when fully subscribed.

City of London Freemen’s was founded in 1854 in Brixton, where it educated both boys and girls. It moved to its current Surrey location in 1926, expanding in size to accommodate increasing numbers of students.

"Our mission is to learn, lead and make a difference. We live and breathe that ethos every day here at Freemen’s: staff and students. Academic excellence is a given, that’s the foundation of any good school and we are very firmly rooted in a tradition of achievement. However, good grades and progression to top universities only make up part of the picture here in Ashtead Park. We want to develop balanced, compassionate, rounded and unpretentious young people, who will go out into the wider world and leave a lasting impact: young people who can and will make a difference throughout their lives."

Headmaster, Roland Martin
