Newcastle School for Boys is the north east region’s only independent school providing education for boys only aged 3 to 18.

We are situated in Gosforth, a leafy suburb just north of the centre of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.  Our Junior School on North and West Avenue comprises early years, infants and juniors catering for Nursery, Reception and all the way up to Year 6.  Nearby, our Senior School on The Grove houses Years 7 to 11 and our Sixth Form.

When it comes to learning, there is a set of characteristics that boys display.  And as a boys school, we tailor that learning experience in small classes to meet the needs of boys.    A small school of around 400 boys, we know each boy well both as an individual and as a learner.  We use these factors to ensure each boy makes the most academic progress possible and achieves as highly as he can.   An excellent education is not just about exam results, as important though they are.  We also develop boys and young men of excellent character who leave us with a set of skills and qualities to support their continued success and happiness in life beyond school.  This emphasis on personal development is supported by a rich sporting and co-curricular programme full of opportunities.  Our pastoral care is excellent.  This is supported by the smaller environment but is actually much more about the School’s ethos and values and the approach and care of our staff.    Formed in 2005, Newcastle School for Boys has a rich tradition of educating boys from its founding schools: Ascham House and Newlands.

The School is a charitable trust, governed by a board of 7 governors.  www.newcastleschool.co.uk
