The Post

St Anthony’s is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and well-qualified Class Teacher who will be responsible for the academic and pastoral development of boys in Year 1, Year 2 or Year 3. The person appointed will be an engaging classroom practitioner committed to the learning and progress of boys. They will have very high professional standards, be an excellent verbal and written communicator, and deliver lessons using a range of resources that help foster a love of learning. The successful candidate will articulate a clear vision for education combining traditional and contemporary methods of teaching and will offer ideas for integrating digital literacy into the curriculum. Contributions to the co-curricular programme i.e. sport and hobbies are welcome.

Class Teachers play a crucial role in supporting the wellbeing and welfare of pupils specifically under their care. There are about twenty boys in each form with the Class Teacher acting as the key link between home and school. The Class Teacher will know their charges well and serve as the link between home and school. Applications from practising and well-qualified Catholics are encouraged; all teachers at St Anthony’s, irrespective of religious affiliation, are expected to be sympathetic to the Catholic ethos of the school. The person appointed will be expected to deliver PSHEE and (most likely) RE lessons, the content of which is stipulated by the Catholic Diocese of Westminster.

This is an exciting time for the school as we introduce new schedules for assessment, tracking and reporting. The aim is to create an academic ‘flightpath’ for each pupil from Reception all the way through to key departure points at the end of Year 6 or Year 8. A dedicated ‘Wellbeing Room’ will be open for the summer term and from September the school will avail the services of a trained counsellor one full day each week.

Although we take our work seriously, St Anthony’s offers a warm and supportive professional environment where careers are developed and meaningful relationships forged.

Salary: Dependent on skills and experience, and in line with the Alpha Plus pay scale.

Hours of work: 35 hours per week, 8.30am until 4.30pm.

Closing date: 11th March 2021.

The School

St Anthony’s is a Catholic Preparatory School (IAPS) for boys aged 4 – 13. There are currently over 310 pupils on roll and the school is looking to increase this number to 330 over the next few years.
