Job overview

Rosemead Preparatory School and Nursery is seeking to employ an Art Teacher from September 2021.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and highly motivated teacher to teach Art from Year 3 to Year 6 and help us build on our excellent reputation in art. The successful candidate will be a talented and ambitious art teacher, with a passion for their subject, taking full advantage of our specialist Art facilities.

Art is a highly valued area of the curriculum at Rosemead. Our children love to be creative and are motivated to do well and to learn new skills. We are looking for an expert practitioner to engage and inspire the pupils, to build progression and development into their studies.

You will be expected to plan, deliver, assess and report Art to all children from Year 3 to Year 6. Your teaching should provide the proper balance between opportunities for expressing creativity and developing technique, with the emphasis on learning through exploration. There should be evidence in the children’s work of the impact of the teaching and individual progress should be evident at all stages. In the course of their learning, the children should be encouraged to develop a lifelong love of Art and Design.

You will have a creative and energetic approach to the teaching and learning of Art and the skills to promote a learning environment where every pupil is engaged and valued as an artist.

The chosen candidate will be required to work 4 days a week and attend training, after school activities and other events as requested.

Rosemead will offer you the opportunity to work with happy polite children, supportive parents, and committed, loyal colleagues in a calm, nurturing environment.

Our motto ‘Inspiring Brilliant Futures’ reflects our desire to develop a passion for learning that will enable children to aim high and achieve their goals. The school’s success is evident in our pupils’ enviable record of entry to leading senior schools locally in both the independent and maintained sectors.

Salary will be dependent on experience and qualifications.

Closing date for applications is Friday 14th May 2021 at 12 noon with interviews scheduled for the week commencing Monday 17th  May 2021.

For further details about the school please view our website at www.rosemeadprepschool.org.uk.

Rosemead Preparatory School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance along with other relevant pre-employment checks. References will be sought, and we will approach referees prior to interview. We will also validate references by subsequent enquiry.

About Rosemead Preparatory School

At Rosemead, we strive to provide a balanced curriculum that nurtures the holistic development of each child. While academic achievement is important, we firmly believe that education should encompass much more than just exams and grades. Our approach is centered around ensuring that your child receives a well-rounded education that includes a strong emphasis on Music, Art, Drama, and Sport, without compromising on academic excellence.

It brings us immense pride to share that our Year 6 children consistently achieve excellent results in the 11+ exams, opening doors to some of the top secondary schools. It is important to note that Rosemead prides itself on finding the school that is right for the child. However, this success does not come at the expense of our rich arts and sports programmes.

Every year, we witness the artistic talents of our children as they win National Art Awards and perform in breathtaking productions. Moreover, our sporting achievements are equally commendable, with several students qualifying and competing at the National Athletics competition in Birmingham this year.

Our curriculum is designed to be creative and engaging, with each year group exploring topics that serve as the focal point of their learning. We encourage cross-curricular connections, where subjects are linked to a central theme, often supported by a captivating novel. This approach not only enhances their understanding but also fosters a love for learning that goes beyond the confines of the classroom.

We take pride in being a co-educational institution, recognising the immense value of a diverse learning environment. We believe that all children benefit from learning together, developing vital social skills and building strong, respectful relationships that will serve them well in their future endeavours. The world is a co-educational environment and we believe that school should be too.

Graeme McCafferty, Head.
