Job overview

Brambletye is an IAPS co-educational boarding/day school for pupils between the ages of 2 ½ and 13. Pupils are prepared for Common Entrance or Scholarship Examinations to a wide range of senior schools. The School was founded in 1919 at Sidcup Place, Kent and moved to its present site, just off the A22, one mile south of East Grinstead, in 1933. In 1969 it was formed into a charitable educational trust with a Board of Governors, which includes parents and Old Boys, with a range of academic and educational experience.

The School facilities are centred on a large country house in the Ashdown Forest, in its own woodlands and extensive playing fields. The whole property covers 140 acres. The School has outstanding sporting, music, drama and arts facilities which are due to be enhanced further by the exciting addition of our new Centenary Building that will house Art, a brand new library and is due to be finished this Autumn.  We also have a well-equipped ICT Room, a large Theatre and Music Rooms. There is also a Sports Hall, tennis and netball courts, two squash courts, an indoor swimming pool and several playing fields including a new all-weather pitch.

We believe that a perfectly balanced combination of traditional values with modern sensibilities makes Brambletye a very special to be. It enables our pupils to thrive as they learn and play, our teachers to love their work as they encourage and support, and our parents to feel pride and peace of mind as they see their children flourish and explore their abilities.

This is an education which focuses on developing the whole person in a beautiful and historic setting.  We have thought hard about how we prepare our children for a future which may look quite different from today’s world. We encourage and inspire our pupils to be emotionally intelligent and adaptable.  We show them how to be the best people they can be, creatively, academically and physically. We give them the courage and belief in their abilities to become confident, happy individuals, well equipped for the next phase of their education and their lives.

We are seeking a well-qualified, innovative and inspiring Key Stage 2 teacher with the qualifications and ability to teach Year 3 or Year 4.  We would actively welcome applications from NQT's for this position as well as experienced teachers.

With a genuine passion for teaching and the ability to motivate, excite and inspire children and staff, you will be an outstanding classroom practitioner and will also be required to make a strong contribution to the thriving extra-curricular life of the school.  There are also excellent opportunities for CPD.

If you are interested in this position and would like an informal discussion prior to applying, please telephone Mr Andrew Morris, Deputy Headmaster (Academic) on (01342) 321004 (Ext. 252) or email via: amorris@brambletye.com.

The closing date for receipt of applications: 9.00am on Tuesday, 26th March 2019

Interviews will be held: Wednesday, 27th March 2019

Early applicants may be invited for an interview before the closing date and the School reserve the right to make the appointments before the formal closing date, therefore earlyapplications are strongly advised.

To apply, please download a copy of our application form and return fully completed with a covering letter to Heather White (HR and Compliance Officer) via email: hwhite@brambletye.com.

Please note that applications not submitted on the Brambletye application form or where the Brambletye application form has not been completed in full, will not be considered.  CV’s will not be accepted in substitution for a completed Brambletye application form.

Brambletye is one of the country's leading co-educational prep schools, with 270 boys and girls currently on the roll.  It was founded at Sidcup Place, Kent in 1919 and moved to its present glorious location in rolling Sussex countryside on the southern outskirts of East Grinstead in 1933. The large country house, in its own wooded estate of 100 acres, overlooks Ashdown Forest and Weir Wood Reservoir. The school became a charitable trust with a board of Governors fifty years later, in 1969. The School has evolved from being a small, all boys boarding school to its present position as a co-educational day and boarding school. Boys and girls continue to go on to many of the leading independent schools in the country, such as King’s Canterbury, Benenden, Charterhouse, Marlborough, Eton, Winchester, Stowe and Lancing .
