Job overview

We are looking for an outstanding teacher to join our dedicated and hard-working team at Moor Allerton Preparatory School in West Didsbury, Manchester. You will be an outstanding classroom practitioner with a high level of commitment, drive and passion for the education and welfare of primary school children.

Moor Allerton is a family-orientated, co-educational preparatory school with an outstanding reputation.  By limiting our class sizes to 20, you will be able to spend the time to really get to know your class, supporting their personal and academic development.  The school places the careful nurturing and rounded education of the children in our care at its core. We encourage impressive results from happy children consistently enabling them to move into schools of first choice.

You will help drive our school into the future, promoting our caring ethos and outstanding results by discovering the right way for each child in your care to reach their potential.

Be it NQT or seasoned practitioner, the key quality we are searching for is the ‘wow factor’ in the classroom – can you grab the attention of the whole class and keep it whilst delivering outstanding teaching to each child? Are you prepared to think carefully about how to enhance your lessons, your classroom, and your pastoral care? Do you have the passion to ‘roll-up your sleeves’ and ‘get stuck-in’ to every aspect of our school? If you can honestly answer ‘yes’ to these questions, we’d like to meet you.

The school is committed to safer recruitment practice and pre-employment checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed. This post is subject to an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service(DBS).

Closing Date: Friday 18th May 2018

Interview Date:  w/b 21st May 2018

Moor Allerton Preparatory School is an independent co-educational day school situated at the heart of the vibrant Didsbury area of South Manchester with an excellent reputation for academics and pastoral care. Each year in July, we bid farewell to confident, polite and impressive Year Six children as they complete their time at Moor Allerton and head towards success at the top senior schools in the Manchester area.

“Pupils benefit from a broad and balanced curriculum which prepared them very well for their next stage of education”

Founded in 1914 as an independent preparatory school for boys, the school became co-educational with a nursery and infant classes in 1981. With most pupils living within a five-mile radius of the school, Moor Allerton feels like a school at the centre of its community.

“Positive and nurturing relationships between teachers and pupils support learning effectively…Pupils are confident and self-assured and enjoy their time in school”

Classes of no more than 20 pupils help us to cultivate a caring, family atmosphere in which every child can feel at home, where staff know them all, and all children achieve. We encourage and enable our children to think for themselves, to be confident in their own abilities and to develop into individuals who are caring, confident and independent.

“The school provides a wealth of opportunities for pupils to develop their creative skills across the arts and in music”

All quotes from our latest Ofsted Inspection Report (Nov 2018)

Moor Allerton enjoys a deserved reputation for consistently high academic achievements as well as notable successes in dance, drama, music and sport. We are guided by a simple truth – that only a happy child learns. Only happy children have the confidence to stretch themselves and to explore the world about them.
