International British School of Bucharest

Romania

  • Expired
Job type:
Full Time, Fixed Term
Start date:
October 30, 2017

Job overview

The International British School of Bucharest is seeking to appoint a mathematics teacher to join a warm, friendly, independent school with an international mix of students in the centre of Bucharest- a beautiful city with something to offer everyone.

Staff turnover is extremely low with the majority of staff being long-term residents: 12 of our current staff are staff who left and returned, which is a good indication of the type of school IBSB is, as well as the lifestyle that Bucharest offers expat teachers. As the fastest growing economy in the EU, Bucharest is an exciting city to live in with plenty of opportunity to get ahead financially, and as a result many of our staff have brought an apartment or house and settled here permanently.

There is excellent staff support available within the school and a strong focus on CPD. Staff socialise together on a regular basis and often go out and eat together during the week as the cost of eating out is very low, and go away together on the weekends and over the school breaks: Romania has 4 seasons, with beautiful beaches and mountains a short drive from Bucharest, as well as many wonderful old Germanic styled towns and castles to explore. Bucharest is also on the low cost air route, with Greece and Italy just a 1-hour 60 euro return flight away.

In the previous ISI inspection report, IBSB was rated Good to Outstanding. Classes are small, with a student profile above the baseline average in the UK, and for the most part being very polite and well-behaved-  it is honestly a pleasure to teach here.

The successful candidate for this position must be a warm, friendly person, with a positive outlook on life and a visible passion for teaching mathematics. The candidate must also be able to teach A Level Statistics, and have the ability to teacher across the Key Stages 3-5.

Package includes:

  • A competitive after tax salary
  • Airfare ticket at the beginning and end of contract (2 year contract)
  • Relocation allowance
  • Private Medical Insurance
  • Housing assistance

Requirements:

  • Relevant Degree and QTS
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience teaching IGCSE/A Level Mathematics
  • Fluent English speaker preferred
  • Clear DBS Check/Police Report
  • EU passport holder
  • 3 positive references from previous schools

The International British School of Bucharest takes safeguarding children very seriously and as such all staff are subject to rigorous checks, including enhanced DBS clearance, or similar checks both from the country of origin and the previous country of employment, along with qualification checks and employment checks to include an exploration of any gaps within employment and three satisfactory references.

To apply for this position, please send your CV and Letter of Application to Iulia Boboc iulia.boboc@ibsb.ro, Head of HR at IBSB.
