Springwell Learning Community

Key Stage 4 Alternative Academy Teacher

Salary – MPS / UPS + SEN allowance

A TLR allowance may be available for an outstanding leader who is willing to offer an appropriate middle leadership responsibility.

Are you a remarkable teacher who feels stifled by the mainstream system? Are you an exceptional, creative practitioner who really wants to make a difference every day to the lives of the most vulnerable children?

Do you want to be driven by a sense of moral purpose rather than data?  Do you want high quality professional development and support? Do you want to teach small classes where getting to know the children really well is a priority and a pleasure? Do you want to work with highly supportive colleagues who share your values and ethos? Do you want to work in an organisation that supports career progression and has opportunities beyond your own school? Do you want to be involved in educational research and development? Do you want to work in an organisation with a national reputation for excellence in its field?

If the answer to these questions is yes, then why not come and work for an organisation who truly believes that there is another way?

Springwell Learning Community is looking to recruit teachers to work within its specialist settings where all of this can be achieved through commitment, resilience and a dedication to working differently. If you are interested in being a part of this unique opportunity, please read on……

Springwell Learning Community requires a Teacher of Key Stage 4 to work as Lead Teacher within the Alternative Academy.  This position would suit a teacher with a proven track record of highly effective practice who wishes to embrace the challenge of working in one of our key stage 4 dispersed settings (formerly pupil referral units). The ability to work positively with young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties is essential.  As the lead teacher you would be responsible for the delivery of accredited courses including English and Maths, with support from specialist curriculum leaders.  A subject specialism is not the priority here but versatility, enthusiasm, resilience, unconditional positive regard for the young people and teaching expertise is! Specialist support and training will be provided for any teacher who wishes to move from a mainstream setting.

If you would like to discuss this position or to arrange a visit please contact Julie Snowball on 01226 291133

Further information about the academy can be found on our website at

The deadline for electronic submission is Monday 23rd October 2017 at 8.00 am

Interviews will take place on Wednesday 25th October 2017
