Key Stage 4 Leader of Enterprise

The de Ferrers Academy has gained a reputation for high levels of academic achievement, demonstrated by the fact that the 2016 results at GCSE and A-level are the best on record.  We have a positive ethos and excellent staff/student relationships, we value our staff and are committed to their personal and professional development.    In recent years, the Academy has developed a national reputation for innovation and success in Learning technologies and ICT.   The Academy is an Apple Regional Training Centre, with 1:1 use of iPads for all Key Stage 4 and 5 students. All teaching staff at the academy have access to a personal I-pads each. All students in Years 10-13 have their own, individual i-pad, which they are encouraged to use in all lessons across the academy, and at home, to aid their progress and achievement, this will soon be extended to Year 9.  There is a strong ethos across the academy to use learning technologies actively to aid pupil progress and achievement.

In the Enterprise faculty, The Director of Learning overseas the Faculty and its three Key Stages. There are three Key Stage Leaders, one at each key stage who have responsibility for Business, Economics, Computer Science and ICT.  

All Year 7 and 8 students have two lesson a week, ICT and Business and Enterprise. In year 9 students can choose to study Business and Economics or ICT and Computing. At Key Stage 4 students can choose Creative i-media, GCSE Computer Science, GCSE Business Studies, GCSE Economics and OCR Certificate in Enterprise and Marketing if they wish to continue to study Enterprise subjects. At Key Stage 5 student can choose Business and Economics; either AQA GCE Economics; AQA GCE Business; or BTEC Level 3 Business and have strong numbers and a high success rate. BTEC Level 3 Business can also be studied across 10 hours a week across 2 years, providing students with a qualification equivalent to 2 A levels at the end of the course. Computer Science or BTEC Level 3 ICT are also offered as options on five hours a week. BTEC ICT is also offered on 10 hours per week to achieve the equivalent of two A levels at the end of the course. Excellent results are achieved and ICT is always a popular A level subject.
