Achieving Excellence where Every Child Matters

Do you share our vision for every child in our school?

This is an exciting opportunity to influence the growth and development of our Key Stage One children as a class teacher through the delivery of a curriculum which is rigorous, learning focused, and follows a thematic approach. We are looking for a candidate who is able to step in and take over the class due to maternity leave. The successful candidate will be an outstanding, learning focused practitioner, preferably with experience of (or willingness to) teach across the Key Stage and with a native level of English language proficiency. Experience of working with children with English as a second or third language is essential. The ideal candidate will have significant experience of the National Curriculum, an interest in real world learning, and preferably experience of using a thematic approach to learning.

Experience of using a VLE to support learning within the classroom and beyond, as well as for assessment purposes and communication with parents, would be a strong advantage. Candidates who already have Spanish residency or an EU passport are particularly encouraged to apply.

As part of our growing primary team, you would be expected to be a dynamic and collaborative teacher, with high expectations of themselves and the children. We are looking for someone who can inspire, challenge and engage our learners, as well as being a highly flexible, co-operative and supportive part of the wider school team. A commitment to educating the whole child, emphasis on high levels of pastoral care and an inclusive approach to education will be of the utmost importance as we make the final appointment. The ability to adapt quickly to new situations, with a problem solving mindset is something we as a school value very highly. As our students come to us from a range of different backgrounds and with varying needs, an interest in raising attainment across all ability levels is imperative.

St George Madrid is a fast growing school within the St George Group of Schools in Spain and is located in a prime educational zone to the North of the capital. The school is an all-through school, and is based on a single site with children aged from 20 months to 18 years. We follow an adapted English National Curriculum across our primary and secondary schools, leading to examination at IGCSE and IB Diploma.

As an international school we expect all of our staff to commit to the wider life of the school, through our after-school programme, as well as school events and activities going on throughout the year.

If you are committed to child centred education, with a deep rooted desire to help every child reach their potential and are interested in helping shape the future development of an international school we would be delighted to hear from you. You can find out more about our schools by visiting our website https://stgeorgeinternational.es/madrid/

Initial interviews will be held face-to-face at the school where possible and will involve teaching a lesson at the school as appropriate. Interested candidates are invited to apply by clicking below. Please upload a current CV with your application. The closing date for applications is Friday 17th February 2023. We reserve the right to make an appointment for the right candidate before the closing date.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students in our care and expects all applicants to share this commitment. We follow safe recruitment practice and appointments are subject to an interview, satisfactory references, a good track record of health and attendance, as well as criminal record checks.
