Job overview

The Wingate School is looking to appoint a part-time Kinder music teacher for an August 2021 start.

This role would suit a teacher already living in Mexico City or one due to come to Mexico for personal or family reasons and looking for a role whilst in the country.

The teacher would teach 4 Kinder classrooms and 2 Year 1 classrooms, with perhaps an additional class for children who stay on past the 1pm end of day.  The teacher can, at their own choosing, teach an afterschool music club as well. The schedule would be set so that it all takes place on one day a week.

Regarding the candidate, we are looking for:

  • First language English speakers.  Knowledge of the British and/or IPC/IEYC curriculum is an advantage
  • A child-centred approach, collegial perspective and initiative
  • School  or nursery teaching experience is required.  A PGCE or teacher's license is strongly preferred but can be waived in lieu of good experience
  • A cheerful, professional, hard-working and well-presented person, capable of inspiring confidence in pupils and parents
  • Good communication and ICT skills
  • Calmness and efficiency, with the ability to work under pressure at times
  • Commitment to the all-round ethos of the School, including its co-curricular activities and School of Character approach

We offer:

  • A competitive local salary
  • Initial one year contract, renewable by mutual consent
  • Benefits including:  school lunches, paid personal days, personal accident insurance, free staff transport routes and/or free on-site parking
  • Work visa sponsorship, if required
  • Supportive school environment with opportunities for professional development
  • Strong and broad academic programme in a well-resourced school
  • Once a week optional after-school Spanish lessons for staff
